** An update on the OWU swimmers who were attempting a relay crossing of the English Channel: The relay effort turned into a solo attempt after the British government denied Usman Javaid's request for the visa that would let him enter the country. He began his swim at about 3:30 a.m. EDT Monday (8:30 a.m. BST/British Summer Time), but was forced to abandon the effort about four hours later after becoming ill and unable to keep down either food or water.
